Investment Realization in Central Sulawesi

The Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) reports that Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) is the province with the largest realized value of foreign investment in Indonesia worth US$5.1 billion during January - September 2022. The investment value is equivalent to IDR 76.68 trillion (estimated exchange rate 15,040 per US dollar) and is higher than West Java, which has a foreign investment (PMA) value of US$4.6 billion or the second largest after Central Sulawesi. Furthermore, North Maluku has realized FDI investment value of US$3.3 billion, followed by DKI Jakarta which has achieved investment realization worth US$3.1 billion, and Riau through FDI achievement of US$2.5 billion. 

"Most foreign investment has entered Central Sulawesi, West Java, North Maluku, DKI Jakarta and Riau. This means that the balance of this investment has entered," said Bahlil in the National Coordination Meeting of Regional Heads and Forkopimda, Tuesday (17/1/2023). Bahlil said that since the third quarter of 2020, investment realization outside Java has always been greater than investment realization in Java. 

According to him, this was the result of infrastructure development outside Java Island which was carried out massively during the reign of President Joko Widodo.

 Based on the data presented, investment realization outside Java reached IDR 472.1 trillion or 52.9 percent of the total realization during January – September 2022. The investment value in Java was IDR 420.3 trillion with a share of 47.1 percent. "The president ordered us to build Indonesia, not Java-centric, but Indonesia-centric," said Bahlil. Meanwhile, of the total investment in Indonesia, Bahlil said that 50.4 percent came from PMA and 49.6 percent came from Domestic Investment or PMDN.

 Over the past year, the Ministry of Investment/BKPM has targeted investment realization of IDR 1,200 trillion. As of the third quarter of 2022, the investment value achieved by the government has reached IDR 892.4 trillion or 74.4 percent.
