Rocky Gerung Reminds the National Police Chief about the Nickel Mine in Morowali, Central Sulawesi

Rocky Gerung Reminds the National Police Chief about TKA and TKI in Morowali, Central Sulawesi

Political observer Rocky Gerung highlighted the statement by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo regarding clashes between Indonesian workers (TKI) and foreign workers (TKA) from China at the Morowali Nickel Smelter.

The National Police Chief said that there was a provocateur behind the bloody incident. However, Rocky has a different view from the National Police Chief. According to him, the clashes that led to the loss of life were not triggered by provocateurs.

Rocky assesses the injustice felt by indigenous workers at PT Gunbuster Nickel Industri. This statement was made by Rocky to answer questions from senior journalist Hersubeno Arief who stated that this case was not revealed because it was only based on provocateurs. "Yes, we know that Morowali is a symbol of people's resistance. So, it is impossible to incite people there. He (workers) don't see justice there," said Rocky Gerung on his YouTube channel, quoted on Thursday (19/1/2023).

It was as if, with the Police's statement that the provocateur had been arrested, the problem would be solved. Because, this talks about the injustice that is felt by the local workers there. So, according to Rocky, it's not just a matter of provocateurs. If the problem of injustice which is the main problem is not resolved, the same thing can happen again in the future. Rocky then reminded that there, Indonesian workers are considered number two in terms of income and facilities.

In fact, they work in their own country and land. "People are considered the number two workers there because the number one workers are workers from China," he said.

"I think Mr Kapolri understands that, but he cannot reveal it because this is related to a lengthy analysis of investment mode," he said.
